Here is the other dinette seat, it's only as wide as the refrigerator cabinet is deep, to minimize obtrusion into the living space.  If you look closely, it is angled down to help hold you in the seat a little bit.  Also, Brad built a hinged rod on the front edge of the seat, the rod is part of an eventual square frame, across which will be woven strapping.  The other end of the frame will be supported by springs on the other side, off of the tabs you see.
