NEWS: Click HERE for the NEW HAULER section of the website!! NEW April 27th, 2008: We went back to all of the stripes on the box and added an awesome shadow stripe to help make the paint job "pop" off the truck. How does it look? Hop over to the HAULER PAGE to see! Now, we're going to buff the whole job, including the original white paint -- this should bring back it's original luster and make the whole truck shine. We'll then hang the bumper, mount the air dam and add the windows. We're almost done with the exterior!! Stay tuned! April 22nd, 2008: The air dam is all painted now, with a sweet 3D-lookin' American flag! Check it out! I also added pictures of the bumper after clear-coating. It's all HERE on the hauler page! January 27th, 2008: The exterior of the cab is almost all done save for a few last pieces to install. We're starting work on the interior of the cab now. Check out the HAULER PAGE for the latest! January 1st, 2008: Well, the cab, doors, visor, fairings and hood are all done! The only thing left to paint is the box. Hop on over to the HAULER PAGE and look at the final result of all of our hard work. We spent a very very long night on Sunday to finish everything so we could enjoy a nice New Year's holiday. Stay tuned for more updates! December 24th, 2007: I'm so sorry everyone, I totally neglected the website the last couple of months trying to do well on my next-to-last semester of undergrad work in college! finally! Since I've updated last, we finished the tough OSTPA season, finishing 5th place in the points standings. Not too bad for old tires, and my sophomore-year driving blues! Over winter break here I plan to put up updates of video, pictures and some information... keep checking back, it should be a busy couple of weeks. So what's happening now? Well, the motorhome is our primary focus -- we're painting it right now. We've painted the rear and parts of the cab, and we'll be painting the rest of the box this coming week into the new year. This leads me to the viewer-participation portion of our program: We've drawn up a couple designs and we're wondering what YOU: our fans, friends and competitors thought of them! So here you go, here are your choices:
To voice your opinion, click HERE and reply to the "HELP US PAINT OUR NEW HAULER" thread on Fonda's Discussion Board. Simply type the number of your favorite design into your reply on Fonda's board! Thanks for voting! I hope all of our loyal friends, competitors and fans have a very merry and blessed Christmas and new year! Stay safe and have fun. Stay tuned for updates! August 9th, 2007: The Mid-Season Championship for OSTPA was Tuesday night in Croton, Ohio. We finished in 5th place, the tractor bounced a lot before it decided to hook up and we could've stood to move a weight off the front end to help it carry. Nothing broken though, as we get ready for the first weekend swing of August! We'll be in Mansfield tonight, Sandusky on Friday night and Napoleon Saturday. Come out and see us!! Here's the video from Croton:
July 30th, 2007: Last Tuesday in Springfield we pulled to a nice 5th place finish, I had to get on the brake a bit to keep between the lines. The tractor is really running very well and consistent. Here's the video:
Last night in Tiffin we pulled very well to a strong 4th place finish! The event was a class A meaning the mod limitations were for four motors instead of just three. Our friend Ken Veney won most decidedly and put on a clinic on Hemi performance with his grand national modified. The remaining finishers in 2nd through 5th place, though, were all within 4.5 feet of each other! This is proof positive of a really terrific track thanks to Jim Miller. We're off for a week now until Croton for the mid-season championship invitational on Tuesday August 7th. See you all there!! Here's the Tiffin video:
July 23rd, 2007: Home from Oak Harbor where we finished 7th out of 14 at Mount Vernon where we finished at 5th out of 9. At Oak Harbor I hopped the tractor a bit too much out of the hole and just didn't build enough momentum. In Mount Vernon, the track was the same as it's always been, very sandy and difficult to read. The track hooked hard right and we missed the weight balance on the front end. No harm no foul, we'll be back at it tomorrow night in Springfield, Ohio, where we came away with a victory last year. If you live close, come visit us! Here is the Oak Harbor video:
Here's the video from Mt. Vernon:
July 18th, 2007: What a disappointing weekend we had in Cortland and Bucyrus. In Cortland I let the tractor drift from the high side to the low side a little too quick, and took out the full-pull cone at 320'... disqualified. Dad reassured me that it happens to everybody, and not to worry about it too much. It was a bummer though because the tractor was running SO well that night, and surely heading towards a full pull. Here's the video:
The real disappointment of the weekend was Sunday night at Bucyrus. Dad lined up the tractor on the right side of the track and the tractor picked up the nose perfectly and took off down the sideline. I let it drift gently towards the sideline but I had to get all over the left brake to keep it in bounds towards the end of the run. The hard braking stopped the momentum of the run really quickly. After the run I was told that the competition director disqualified my run due to going out of bounds. I knew I was close, but I also knew that I certainly did not touch the line. After reviewing the video, it was confirmed that I indeed did not go out of bounds. This could not sway the comp. director's decision and we had to absorb the DQ even though the run was perfectly legal. Such a terrible disappointment. Also, I want to apologize to all of my fans in Bucyrus who saw me act very unprofessionally and out of character as I was extremely upset over the call. I take pride in our team's professionalism and I want to apologize to everyone for forgetting that. Thank You. Here's the video, you be the judge... Out of Bounds?
See you all in Oak Harbor on July 21st and Mt. Vernon on July 22nd. Thank you all for your support during this tough weekend. July 14th, 2007: Home from the OSTPA pull at London -- we had a great smooth pass to snag 3rd place!! The video is here below! We're heading up to Cortland to pull Saturday night and then down to Bucyrus Sunday night. If we're close to where you live, come on out and see us! We love to meet and talk to our fans. I'll update with news and video when we get home.
July 13th, 2007: Hey fans, Some updates for you: on Tuesday night in Bellefontaine, the tractor ran really well to pull to a strong second place finish!! We only missed winning the pull by a little more than 4 feet, an excellent night. The results can be found HERE. On Wednesday night in London, I bounced a bit too much coming out of the hole, and it really hurt us, we finished in 6th place, results for that pull can be found at the NTPA site, HERE. We'll be back at the very same place Friday night, in London, for the OSTPA hook. See you all there! We finally got a new camcorder, here is the video from the regional hook in London on Wednesday night, Enjoy.
July 9th, 2007: Hello all, I would upload a video from Marion but our camcorder died... I'll put videos back up as soon as I can. In Marion we finished 4th out of 10 tractors, results are HERE. We waited about an hour and a half for a rain delay and pulled on a gooey track. Besides bouncing a few times out of the hole, the tractor made a good pass. Off to Bellefontaine tomorrow, come see us! June 26th, 2007: I added fifteen new pictures of the latest progress on our motor coach on the Hauler Page HERE, check it out! June 25th, 2007: Home from Wilmington with some updates and news. We had a decent run in Wilmington but missed the weight balance a little bit. Also, the new headers allowed for cooler air into the motors and we didn't take this into account for our pass, the tractor was running lean. We finished in 7th place out of 9 tractors. Results can be found at the NTPA site, HERE. I'm trying something new and I'm going to put the video of every run we make this year on this page, here ya go!
During the normal post-event inspection and adjustments I found a hairline crack near the intake valve spring seat on the middle motor's driver side cylinder head. After removing the head we discovered that the crack goes all the way into the intake runner on the number one cylinder. The head is at Fowler Engines right now being welded and repaired, we should be ready to go for Marion on July 5th. Here are some pictures of the damage, click on them to see the full-size versions. Stay tuned for updates, see you in Marion! May 14th, 2007: Hello all, I came across some pictures from last pulling season and uploaded them for you to look at, check them out on the photo page HERE. I also put up some pictures of the new headers we're building for the 2007 season. We're building shorter, bigger diameter headers to help get the hot exhaust gasses away from the motors, check them out! I have also updated the schedule page to reflect most of the pulls we'll be attending this year. See you all in Wilmington on June 16th! January 29th, 2007: Ok, big news in the Wild Times Motorsports camp!! At the OSTPA Awards Banquet, I was voted as the modified division Rookie of the Year! I have to thank God, my fellow competitors for voting for me, my family, crew, friends, fans, sponsors and especially dad!
Also, In "Hogg and Frank's Top Picks of the Year" we were picked at "The Best Appearing Team" in the OSTPA for 2006 and they also voted my winning pass in Springfield as "The Best Run of the Year!" Thanks guys!! We had a great year and can't wait to get started on next year. As for the website, I have to apologize to our faithful audience, I've been slow to update. For your patience, I'm rewarding you with a HUGE HAULER PICTURE UPDATE! Click HERE to see it, the coach is really coming along. As for the tractor, we're not changing much for next season, save for some modifications in the rear end, some work on the cylinder heads, and new headers. Thank you all so much for checking out the website, we average over 16,000 visitors a year!! |
