NEWS: December 30th, 2009: I'm having stickers made of the design above in memory of DeLynn for next season. If you'd like one or two to place on your vehicle for next season, email me at b_jerew(at)hotmail.com and let me know your name and how many you'd like. There will be a small cost involved to cover the cost of production, but it will be small. Have a happy new year, everyone. God Bless. September 25th, 2009: Our neighbor, friend and fellow puller DeLynn Kale has passed away after a tough battle with cancer. Please pray for DeLynn's widow Eilene and all of his family and friends in this tough time. My dad Kevin told me a story about DeLynn that was indicative of this sport we love so much and of DeLynn's true love for it: Before dad even got into pulling, he was traveling past DeLynn's house late one night and noticed the garage lights on, with Kale's legendary Oliver 88 inside, in pieces. Dad decided to stop and see what was going on and discovered DeLynn and a friend hard at work reassembling a transmission or rear end that had broken that day, and had to be ready to pull the next. Dad couldn't understand how anyone in their right mind would stay up all night to put together an old tractor just to go to a tractor pull. Nonetheless, he wished DeLynn the best and returned home. A few years later, my dad and uncle got bitten by the pulling bug as well and wound up building a pulling tractor of their own, the very first Wild Times. Of course It wasn't long before they too had broken their tractor and had a pull to go to the next day. Naturally they thrashed all night to go to that next pull. Until they were in the same situation as DeLynn, they hadn't really learned about the love you could have for this sport and what would lead men to forgo sleep, comfort and relaxation in pursuit of another pass down the track. DeLynn was a die-hard puller to the very end. Fierce on the track and always striving for another victory. No matter the results on the track, though, he'd be the first to congratulate you, encourage you or offer to help you if you had broken something. You'll never be forgotten, friend. You've earned that full pull pass to heaven.
